I have been challenged in so many ways since I became a LPN, but I knew furthering my career would bring even more challenges. The workforce wasn’t getting any better and there was a greater demand for nurses, but only if you were a register nurse, not as a LPN. So, I decided to go back to school at forty-two.
Getting started was the easy part. The days and times scheduled for classes were flexible. The teacher was fantastic! It was the studying! How was I going to find the time to study, take care of a family of four, and work two jobs. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy, but all things considering I knew I had to do it!
Requirements for passing would be to attended classes weekly, studying each available moment and making each grade count by getting a passing score on my exams. This was a decision only I could make and me alone if I was going to accomplish what I had set out to do.
So far, school is going great. There are times when I ask myself
“what have you gotten yourself into?” and I keep reminding myself that this my be overwhelming at first, but if you remember it was like this the first day of LPN school too.

Summer is never dull. There is so much activity to see. You can observe the birds and watch their behavior. Enjoy the colors of the flowers. The Squirrels are frolicking and at play. So many wonders of wildlife to embrace.
Watching the humming birds is a colorful activity. They are a variety of colors. Some are green with a red throats. Many are black with a white rings around their necks. Others are mingled in greens, purples, reds. A delight for the eye.
Many of the flowers that surround my back deck attract Humming birds too. I have Black Eyed Susan’s with bright yellow petals and dark black centers., Butterfly bushes that are mingled in colors of pink, purple, yellow. Their all time favorite is The bright orange Hummingbird vine on my house.
Their behavior in my garden is fun to watch. I like the way they can hover over flowers with their wings flapping so fast that they become a blur. I am amazed by their ability to dart in and out of flowers so fast and still extract the nectar. They are so light. Hummingbirds can sit on a flower and it withstands their non existent weight.
I also watch the squirrels from my deck. They scurry around for nuts and acorns, then dart up the trees as fast as lightening. They can disappear from sight so easily by plunging into a hollow tree or into a bush. Squeals are extremely aware of their surroundings and constantly on the look out for danger. My favorite sight is to watch them play and chase each other.
As you can now see, Summer is very exciting with many sights to enjoy. The wildlife and foliage of summer put on a show for all to observe. So there is no reason to be bored in the summer. Make yourself aware of your surroundings and enjoy the sights.

Guinea pigs make really great pets
Taking care of a guinea pig requires alot of time and responsibility. They require food, water, and thrive for attention. Keeping them safe and clean are also issues to consider when choosing a pet. During this brief essay we will learn what is required to keeping your safe, happy and healthy.
The first and foremost vital part of having a guinea pig would be to nurture your animal with the right amount of nutrients it needs to survive. Guinea pigs love fresh fruit, hay and water. If food is not eaten by the next day it should be thrown out. This prevents guinea pigs from getting sick from eating anything rotten. Lastly, feed your pet with a variety of food, so it does’t get bored.
Bathing time for your guinea pig can be a challenging yet rewards time for you and your pet. Set aside a day and time to bathe your pet. It may take a few times for you guinea pig to get use to this idea, but evidentally he will began to cooperate. Keep his cage cleaned by daily looking to see if any feces or urine secretions are building up. Keeping your pet and his cage clean will help to prevent germs and diseases that might be fatal for your pet.
Guinea pigs are small animals and should be protected by placing them in a comfortable side cage so they have room to roam around. The cage should be at least 7.5 squaure feet to live per one guinea pig. Put objects in the cage where the guinea pig can hid so he doesn’t feel threatened. The cage needs to be 18 inches high, if it is shorter a lid needs to be placed on top, because he might jump out. Keep the cage in a area where the temperature is between 65 and 70. If the room is too hot the guinea pig might have a heat stroke.
In conclusion, having any kind of pet is a big responsibility for anyone. Knowing what kind of pet that suits you and your family is a big decision. Taking the time to choose your pet wisely like looking into shelters, newspapers and local breeders will help you to decide what pet is perfect for you!

“Married Life”
There are many different chapters we go through in life. Marriage is the beginning of change for many people a way to find ourselves. It is the start of something new and challenging . Marriage is different for each individual, but wonderful in so many ways.
It is a great feeling waking up to someone you love. The fight for covers, one laughing at the other for having an attitude due to the early rise, and trying to stay in bed for a few minutes longer to snuggle. What you have to get use to the dreadful morning breath, and snoring that you remember being somewhat quieter when you were dating. The warmth of someone beside you is a comfort and feeling that is truly hard to replace when it is gone.
“Sharing” something we are taught as children, however never seems to get any easier as adults. For example this is my side of the bed, please wear your own socks, can I not watch my show tonight. What we have to sacrifice and compromise in a relationship is never ending. The changes we go through help us to become more understanding and aware of the needs of our mate.
Like many know a marriage is built on trust it is depending on each other to be honest about things. You have to be open enough to talk about the future and things you want in life. It is relying on your partner to help make an income and provide the things you need.
Marriage was not always meant to be easy. Everything that is good in life takes work. It’s the small things that make it all worthwhile, and the chance to grow old with someone you love. A relationship is the opportunity to find a friend and soul mate.

The day it never stopped raining. The day started out like most anyday with the sun trying to peek out from behind the clouds. the sky was gray in color and the sun just didn’t make it all the way though the clouds.
Then the sky got darker in color with a loud sounding clap of thunder. Lightning followed directly behind the loud sound. The rain came pouring down. Soaking the ground and making a small stream in my driveway. My friends came by and where the rain had made the small stream in the driveway they proceded to get their car stuck.
After thirty minutes to an hour. The friends were needing to leave. So we had to get our tractor from the shada and place a chain from the car to the tractor. we proceded to move slowly out of the driveway. In so doing there was a mud pit left in place of the car.
we not only have a stream from all the rain but a mud pit to go with it. If the rain will stop maybe things will dry up.

Use of Written Language: 4 – Watch out for grammar just a bit. Example: “This was a decision only I could make and me alone…” is a bit confusing.
Use of Argument and Support: 3 – No clear thesis so I’m not sure what you’re trying to support. Try re-phrasing the thisis to something like.. “While it is callengeing to go back to school, it will improve your quality of life later.” Something along this line would tell the reader what you’re trying to prove to them.
Understanding Concepts: 4 – There is no prompt but you did stay clearly on-topic.

Use of Written Language: 4 – You have a few sentences that are lacking a clear subject or just seem a bit too short. For example: “Enjoy the coors of the flowers” is missing a subject. There was one instance where your word-processing program corrected “squirrels” to “squeals” so be sure to double-check your spelling before submitting!
Use of Argument and Support: 3 – You have a good development of ideas, but there is no clear thesis.
Understanding Concepts: 4 – Again, good ideas, but no thesis to tell me if you adequately developed the essay to support it.

wlvculver:
Use of Written Language: 4 – Watch out for tenses! “Rewards” should be “rewarding”, and “you” should be “your”.
Use of Argument and Support: 5 – You have a good thesis statement and your arguments clearly stay on-topic and support it. The conclusion regarding picking the perfect pet went a bit off-topic though.
Understanding Concepts: 5 – Well developed based on your thesis prompt.

Cricket, this was a good little story! I will point out that you might want to watch your use of grammar just a little bit, like using “were needing to” instead of “needed to”. You might also want to proof-read to ensure you use complete sentences every time. “Soaking the ground..” could have been added to the previous sentence by saying “The rain came pouring down, soaking…” or it should have had a subject added to read “The rain soaked the ground..”.
Overall, it was a good story.

My Very Special Friend
I am very fortunate in life to have someone special to me that I not only call friend, but consider her as a family member. We have been through our ups and downs throughout the years but have continued to maintain a very strong bond. She has qualities in her that I wish everyone in life was able to emulate, kind, supporting, loving and true blue.
My friend Nancy has been what I call a best friend since we were kids in the seventh grade. We have had such fun together going to the same junior high and high schools and church we have spent endless hours with one another. I have many a fond memory of these times one in particular was planning her sixteenth surprise birthday party. I was stressing out trying very hard to not ruin the surprise factor; unknowingly that Nancy had not a clue what was going on. It turned out great and all had a wonderful time. We share a lot of the same values in life which provides for added strength to our friendship.
Nancy has seen me through a lot of hard times in my life. I married and went through an abusive relationship that ultimately ended in divorce, with a baby to care for alone. Another event in my life she helped me through was the untimely death of both of my parents within less than three months of one another. She was able to see that I needed a break away and sent me airline tickets to see her.
We are able to communicate, argue and then later laugh at the issues at hand, knowing that our friendships is one that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately years ago I moved with my family over two thousand miles away from my dear friend. Even with the miles between us, we have been able to keep the communication lines open through the internet and the telephone. This is not the best way to communicate, face to face is so very important, it adds a special element we have lost. Prayerfully will we see one another again and regain lost moments.
Years ago she offered to help me finish my nursing education, told me to give it prayer and thoughts and get back to her. Nancy being a nurse practitioner knows the value of education. I thought it through and made the decision to complete my RN degree. I have never regretted this at all, it has been a very rough road, one I have traveled down before in other situations in life. Working forty to fifty hours weekly has made the process of finishing my education a long process, but a rewarding one. Now facing the finish line I can only pray that it was all worthwhile.
I feel so blessed to call my friend not only a friend but a sister that has a very special place in my life and more importantly my heart. Thank you seems only like words, inadequate of the blessing she has given me in life. My prayer is that the Lord will provide me a way to bless her life as she has mine.

Use of Written Language: 4 – This essay shows good language usage and just a few grammar mistakes. The main problem seems to be a few times where a sentence fragment was “tagged on” to the end of a sentence and just didn’t seem to fit. For example: “She has qualities in her life..” at the end of the first paragraph. The section describing the emotional qualities (“kind, supporting, loving and true blue”) is a fragment that should have been a separate sentence. “She is kind…”.
Use of Argument and Support: 4 – There was no prompt, but you gave what felt like a thesis stating that she has characters that you wish others would emulate, but then did not discuss this further! Either that idea should have been addressed, or the thesis should have been a bit less specific about others emulating these characteristics.
Understanding Concepts: 5– Good development of ideas!
