NURX 104 Class Canceled Tonight – 1/30/2012
Attn Students in Ms. Cutts Monday night NURX 104 class. Due to instructor illness, tonight’s class will be canceled.
To assure that you are able to cover all of the required information, another Monday night session will be added on 2/27/2012.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
NURX 212 Canceled for This Evening, Thursday, 1/12/12
It’s only 12:30 pm, but we have already received reports of ice on the off ramps of our local freeways. Also, Davidson County/Metro public schools has canceled their after school and evening activities, which is the normal gauge we go by when making decisions to close classes here.
Students enrolled in tonight’s NURX 212 class should stay home this evening. We will add another class session to the end of the course to make up the missed time.
Have a safe and blessed evening,
Dr. Graden
How to Know About Canceled Classes…
It’s hard to imagine that we are this far into January with no weather related closings yet.
Still, you never know when snow will take it’s toll, so I wanted to issue a reminder about we notify you if we need to cancel a class.
1. The first thing we do is post the closure on this blog. If weather concerns you, just check here before you leave for class. TIP: If you fill in your email address in the header at the top of the page and click “Sign Up”, you will receive an email every time a new post is published. Forward the email to your smart phone and you will have near instant notification. If you decide to do this, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your desire to receive these emails. There is a link for you to click, then you are confirmed. If you didn’t get the confirmation email, check your spam folder.
2. We notify the local television stations. You will find the closures listed on channels 2, 4, 5 and 17. These generally scroll across the bottom of the screen. They also list the school closures on their websites. Some of these stations will let you set up an email alert when ALC reports a closure. Just visit their websites to set it up should you wish:
Channel 2: http://www.wkrn.com
Channel 4: http://www.wsmv.com
Channel 5: http://www.newschannel5.com
Channel 17: http://www.fox17.com
3. Some Nashville radio stations pick up the school closures from the television websites. At the time of this writing, we have been told that the following radio stations do so:
* 103 FM – WKDF
* 104.5 FM – The Zone
Keep in mind that we have many students traveling great distances to get here for classes. We make our closure decisions based on Nashville conditions, as that is where we are located. Use your best judgement should the weather in your area be difficult.
Should we cancel a class due to weather, we will add a session to the end of the course schedule to make up the missed time.
Finally, it is best to refrain from calling the office to find out if class is being held. Should the weather be bad enough to cancel classes, we won’t be in the office to answer the telephone.
