Apply

Applying to Excelsior College* is relatively easy. As with any college or university, a formal application is required. High school students begin this process in their junior years, in an attempt to get "approved" by as many colleges as possible. Options are always good to have.

While our RN Bridge Program students don't need to worry about multiple applications, they do need to apply with Excelsior College* and be formally accepted. This must happen before you can enroll ( which will be discussed next week's e-Newsletter!

You can apply to Excelsior College* at any time and it is best to do so early, especially if you did not have copies of transcripts when your evaluation was done.

If there is any question about your qualification for acceptance by Excelsior College*, we will not sign you up for our RN Bridge Program until you are accepted. Generally, if you hold a valid LPN, Paramedic or Respiratory Therapist licence you are qualified and need not apply before enrolling in our program.

However, if you are a military corpsman, been dropped from a traditional nursing school, hold an overseas LPN license, etc., we do require that you apply to Excelsior College*, and receive confirmation of your qualification, before we can accept you into our RN Bridge Program.

For everyone else, we recommend applying as soon as possible after starting classes at ALC. However, the latest you should wait to apply is when you start NURX 104. If you don't apply by then, you will not get everything done on time to take the remaining nursing exams (Excelsior College* blocks out the remaining nursing exams until you are enrolled).

Applying to Excelsior College* is simple. First, you will need to go to their website:

Once you log into your account, scroll down the page until you see the word "Apply" in blue letters, centered on the page. Click there and follow the instructions.

Note: Excelsior College* offers two different associate degrees in nursing. Be sure to choose "Associate Degree in Nursing". The incorrect choice is "Associate Nursing Degree in Applied Science".

Be prepared to pay the $75.00 fee (at the time of this writing). After completing the online application, you MUST contact any colleges you previously attended and have them mail official transcripts to Excelsior College*. The mailing address is provided to you on the web site as you are filling out the application.

You will need to send them a copy of your current license to prove your qualification for the program.
